Busy Bee

I've been absent for quite a while! Sorry! Life's been so busy with little things. It's not even big things! Just little things. I'm taking my boys to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach this Saturday. My younger one has been there with his school, but it was his suggestion that we go back because he didn't get to see ALL THE SEA CREATURES. It was actually a great suggestion being that Sean (my older boy) and I have not yet been there. I'll be taking my camera with my NEW lens, so we'll see how it turns out!! I'm quite excited!

Here are a few pictures I've taken about a month ago to share with you:

HUMP DAY

I find it wierd how I blog in the middle of the day, or in the morning. Blogging should be a reflection of events that occured throughout the entire day. Well see, I don't really have time to get on the computer when I get home. I have my boys, our dinner, their homework and their personal needs that I MUST (according to them) attend to. Also, to be quite honest, I have no interest in facing the PC again at home. I'm already infront of the darn thing for almost 8 hours a day. Usually, I'll just grab my book and catch up on some reading. I'm actually very proud of myself! In the past 2 months, I've read almost 2 books! I finished reading The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho last month. I am now reading another book of his titled Eleven Minutes. His books are so inspiring and just so real. It always gives me something to think about, something to reflect on. I have 2 more books waiting for me to crack open. One of them is again by Paulo Coelho, Veronika decides to die and The Bonesetter's Daughter by Amy Tan. I picked up these books from Barnes and Noble about 2 months ago. Since I'm on vacation from school at the right now, I figure it's a good time to catch up on some reading.

So, AMERICAN IDOL SEASON FINALE'S TONIGHT! I've been watching that show after the 1st season it aired. Personally, I like the two DAVIDS, but I'm specially fond of DC. The ROCKER just takes the cake for me. It doesn't really matter who wins though. They are both really talented people. Like David Cook said yesterday, "the competition's pretty much over. It's all about having fun now!"

Monday Blues

I'm trying to stay positive. It's Monday and NOBODY likes Mondays. Well, maybe a few people do, but that isn't the point I'm trying to justify. LOL. It's almost noon and I can't wait for the day to be over. That is a shame! I just have a more positive work ethic. Work is work. We all have to do it if we want to live according to our means. I got my new lens but I haven't had a chance to use it. Actually, I have to play with it for a while. It's proven to be more complicated than it looks. *sigh*

I wish I had some pictures to share with everyone, but sadly, I don't. I'm hoping to have some to share before this week is over. We'll see if this heat inspires me.

In the meantime, enjoy Monday.

I can't wait to see what this bad girl can do!

Nikon 85mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor

I ordered "HER" off of Samy's Camera's website. It's suppose to be shipped to me by Wednesday. (Which by the way is now an eternity from today!!) Samy's Camera is an excellent source for any aspiring photographer. They have great deals on anything that you need for your photographic work. They also have rentals of their equipment that you can try. They have classes and training sessions on different type of photographic-related topics.

They're just GRRREAT!

I'm ALL IN!

I officially started it today! I am now booking photo shoot sessions!!! I am so excited! I have been wanting to venture into this business for quite some time. It will be a part-time deal for me. I am currently adding a few things to my MUST-HAVE equipment list. My next move is to rent an office space and turn it into a studio. That is of course once I'm done getting my business license & permits.

My passion for photography has increased throughout the years. So far, I have 3 contacts with whom I am dealing with in terms of scheduling their shoots. Since I am very new in the business, I am accepting a very minimal fee for their moment of vanity. Wish me luck!

Because I felt like I deserved it, I passed by Starbucks on the way to work and grabbed myself some breakfast. A tall latte and a mixed fruit muffin seemed to like a pretty good combination. Over the hump as we call it. I need more inspiration so I can blog myself away. I just can't help thinking that I shouldn't be too public with my life. After all, who knows who reads these blogs, right? But then again, what a perfect way to keep everyone up-to-date with what's going on with me. Oh well, what the heck! I'll just blab away anyway! Haha!
On an update on my Revlon fundraising, an anonymous donor donated $20 on my fundraising web page! Isn't that awesome! Thankyou, who ever you are!! I called my mom on my way to work this morning and she said she got my email on my fundraising. She too will be donating for the great cause. The more, the better! She also expressed that she was feeling a bit under the weather. Poor mom! She works so hard! I love her dearly. I'm sure more than she knows. I guess like her, I'm not showy with my emotions - BUT I'M WORKING ON IT! It's Mother's Day this Sunday. We'll be having a bbq at my parents' house. It will be a great time to bond with the rest of the family.
Here's something funny that happened lastnight, by the way. For some reason, I had a difficult time sleeping. I tossed and turned and had no luck in snoozing. I ended up sleeping next to my baby boy, Coby. (who by the way is not a baby anymore, according to him! He's 6!) After a few minutes, I knocked out! He was all I needed to catch my Zzzs I guess! LOL!
Happy Wednesday to us all! We're almost there.

CAUSE it's worth it.

It's that time again: the Revlon Run/Walk 2008. The fight for Women's Cancer! For the past 3 years, I've participated in this worthy cause. Millions of dollars have been raised for research on battling this deadly disease. Once again, I'm getting involved. It is such a rewarding feeling to know that you are are part of something BIG.

EVERYONE'S SUPPORT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! No amount is ever too small!!

Yesssss! It's FRIDAY!! Finally!! This week has been such a long week for me! I've been going through a roller coaster of emotions. I'll be more happy when work is OVER. Yesterday, my co-worker Tanika bought me lunch. Since I told her about me ONE MONTH MISSION for healthy living, she decided to give me a treat. She bought me Raspberry Ice Tea AND Sweet Yams! I took a picture of the combo so I could post it on my blog, but OF COURSE, I forgot the my SD card adaptor! GRRR!!

Geez...ok, it's only 11AM! It's gonna be a great weekend! I can feel it!

May Day

I would LOOOOVE to be at a May Day parade right now. Can you imagine what kind of photos I could be shooting at this moment??? I found these pictures on Google, and I absolutely LOVE THEM!

May Day occurs on May 1 and refers to any of several public holidays. In many countries, May Day is synonymous with International Workers' Day, or Labour Day, which celebrates the social and economic achievements of the labor movement.
May Day can refer to various labour celebrations conducted on May 1 that commemorate the fight for the eight hour day. May Day in this regard is called International Workers' Day, or Labour Day. The choice of May 1st was a commemoration by the Second International for the people involved in the 1886 Haymarket affair in Chicago, Illinois. As the culmination of three days of labor unrest in the United States, the Haymarket incident was a source of outrage and admiration from people around the globe. In countries other than the United States and Canada, residents sought to make May Day an official holiday and their efforts largely succeeded.
For this reason, in most of the world today, May Day has become an international celebration of the social and economic achievements of the labour movement. Although May Day received its inspiration from the United States, the U.S. Congress designated May 1 as Loyalty Day in 1958 due to the day's appropriation by the Soviet Union. Alternatively, Labor Day traditionally occurs sometime in September in the United States. Some view this as an effort to isolate American workers from the worldwide community. Although certain countries do not celebrate May Day, many people from around the globe continue to use May Day parades as an opportunity to show disapproval with the government or to protest cuts in social programs.
